Exciting Happenings at the Spaceport!!

Hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful weather. It definitely beats that heat wave! That reminds me...summer is nearly over....better get into Spaceport! We close our doors to the public on August 31st!!!! (but, call if you'd like to arrange a field trip for your group after that date, it probably will be able to work out...)

We had two wonderful groups come for field trips at the Spaceport this week. The first group was a group of preschoolers from one of the local Montessori schools. Wow, what a bunch of smart kiddos! They asked some great questions, and thoroughly loved the stomp rockets/air rockets (curious what these are? Come check us out!! See hours here) as well as the planet theater presentation.

Our second group was a field trip from the Cleveland Lutheran Church Vacation Bible School. Another neat group of kids of varying ages! They seemed to really enjoy the planet theater presentation but, of course, the air rockets took the cake (they really are fun...come down and check them out).

But what is this exciting news? Well...

CHECK THIS OUT!

The Ice Moons Event fundraiser has its debut on September 16th!!

Lots of fun to be had, so please come out and join us, and help us raise the money we need to retro-fit the beloved Armory into a world-class space/aerospace educational facility. It's definitely possible, and we're getting close! This event will hopefully help us get everything started.

There will be Liquid Boosters and Solid Boosters...what do those have to do with space? Don't you remember your rocket science lessons from school? NO??? Well, then head on down to the Spaceport for a little lesson Rocket Science! ;-)

Anyways...the Liquid Boosters category will be cocktails that must use liquid nitrogen in some way in their concoction (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic will most likely be available...it depends on our contestants, obviously). The Solid Boosters category will be delectable desserts that (you guessed it) will use liquid nitrogen in some manner in their creation. Both events will be stocked with local contestants, showcasing their talents!

What do you do as a patron of this event? Simple! Just vote on your favorites (preferably, one in each category). With admission, you only get two votes...so make sure you plan to buy more at the event, in case you have a favorite that you REALLY want to win!! Celebrity judges will also help decide the winners.

Oh, and some super-special guests will be in attendance. Curious? Check out the website link above to find out more. But, here are a couple hints: There are not many of them in the world (but it's a growing number!), and some of them walked on the Moon.

We hope to see you there!!
